Multimodal access control system

November 2006 Access Control & Identity Management

The E-SMARTi from Eagle Biometrics is an electronic security system utilising face, voice and facial-mimic info for biometric verification.

The unit uses multimodal biometric technology, which makes use of more than one biometric identifier to compare the identity of the person. The E-SMARTi uses three technologies - face, mimic and voice. If one of the technologies is unable to identify the user, the system can still use the other two to accurately identify against. Due to the open-nature of the unit's software it can easily be linked to legacy access control systems or, alternatively, to other forms of biometric hardware (ie, fingerprint scanners).
