Security in South Africa and Stallion CAP Electronic Security, a provider of integrated CCTV security solutions, recently implemented access control and security within the ATM Solutions building in Johannesburg; as well as providing video monitoring and recording of the perimeter, and the warehouse area.
"ATM Solutions, a member of The Kanderlane Group, provides a turnkey solution to retailers who desire an in-store ATM. ATM Solutions is the largest independent provider of automated teller machines in South Africa," explains Lauren Sher, GE Security's country manager for South Africa.
"Together with Stallion Cap Electronic Security, we met with the client to discuss and design a solution that would meet their needs," says Sher. "Stallion was selected in this instance as the integrator of choice because of its infrastructure, technical support and technical knowledge in the field of CCTV and access control systems, and GE Security's products specifically.
"The client's brief included the instruction that it was critical that the old and new systems would integrate with one another; and that ATM Solution's other offices could be integrated into the same system in the future," she continues.
Paul Champion, sales director for Stallion, says a GE Security ATS Master integrated system was proposed as the solution.
"The system consists of two ATS3000 master panels, each populated with intelligent four door controllers, to allow true access control at the various doors throughout the building. Each Master panel has an IP interface installed, to allow for TCP/IP communication with the server. In addition, GE Security's EV100 and EV455P PIRs are installed, to provide detection coverage throughout the building," elaborates Champion.
"High-resolution, fixed-colour cameras are deployed around the perimeter and in strategic areas around the building; and GE Security's Kalatel Storesafe Digital Recorder was chosen to provide high quality wavelet recording.
"Having a built-in CD burner gives the client the flexibility of burning evidence straight onto CD; and the SMTP notification allows alarm events to be e-mailed across the LAN," he says.
Champion adds: "GE Security's Alliance standard software package was provided as the system GUI. This allows the client to configure and control both the CCTV and ATS systems from a single interface; and also allows events/alarms from one system, to trigger actions in the other. This means that images of people trying to enter restricted areas, can immediately be captured by the digital recorder."
GE's Lauren Sher concludes: "GE Security's ATS solution provides the client with the opportunity of integrating additional access control and CCTV, at both the head office site and at its remote offices. Should ATM Solutions wish to expand, additional features like fire alarm integration means the system can continue to grow and become even more effective."
