In 2004, Leigh Matthews was kidnapped and murdered, a crime that shocked the nation. Out of this tragic event was born the Leigh Matthews Trust Fund, a non-profit organisation that raises funds to support initiatives that can assist victims of abuse and crime.
Marking the first day of the international 16-day campaign of activism and No Abuse of Women and Children, the Leigh Matthews Trust Fund is hosting a fundraiser Ladies Tea on 25 November at the Indaba Hotel, Fourways. The proceeds from this event will go towards a trauma counselling centre for victims of abuse and violence which will operate from Johannesburg University; and towards equipment for DNA analysis for the forensics laboratory in Pretoria.
Tickets can be bought at a cost of R160 each. Corporate sponsorship of tables is also welcomed.
