New development from ADC

March 2006 News & Events

Alliance Data Corporation has completed the development of its brand new FireFly product. This 100% South African conceived and designed product comprising of new hardware, firmware and software embodies decades of industry and application experience combined with the best modern technology available. The requirement was to provide a system that will be competitively priced at the single terminal level but upward scalable to a configuration managing thousands of terminals employed across continents.

The solution takes care of the interests of the various segmented functions within an organisation, such as security, time and asset management. It empowers each function within an organisation to take private ownership of the resources that it controls. At the same time it satisfies the tendencies for centralisation dictated by ERP systems. The powerful networking characteristics of the FireFly make it the system of choice for organisations that operates many branches and subsidiaries.

The FireFly fully utilises the strengths of IP and TCP/IP. It seamlessly updates events in up to hundreds of dispersed locations. It is a true network system. Some of the main features are: up to 300 sites may be part of a FireFly family, the FamilyCircle invention keeps the sites synchronised; the entry level system supports in excess of 40 000 users per site; all the classical functions common to access control systems, including biometrics are incorporated; the system will operate continuously even when host servers are down; and asset tracking and recording using various recognition technologies are available.
