New wireless, voice programmable alarm system

October 2005 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection

Brahms, an Italian manufacturer controlled by BPT and distributed by TRI-BPT Automation, presents the new wireless alarm system.

The innovation of these products is represented by the ease of installation: each installation can have up to 64 devices that can be programmed through a customisable voice message. With a self-learning programming procedure, there are no more dip-switches to be set or complicated procedures to follow. The components are elegant and can be fit in any interior design and are all surface mounted for a quick click-on installation. Sensors and magnetic contacts are waterproof. Another interesting feature is the bi-directional keypad and remote control, which gives a confirmation for every command sent to the control unit and can warn the user of any alarm detected before entering the zone protected by the system. For each component of the system, a name can be recorded, which will be stored in the control unit and played whenever the alarm goes off or during a test procedure, so users will be alerted to which sensor is involved.

A reason for wireless alarm not being popular is the reliability: with the new monitoring function users can check the transmission frequencies of the peripherals so that the positioning in the house can be optimised before the installation, assuring immunity from possible interference. Lithium batteries, which come already supplied and connected, power each component, resulting in quicker installation. The system features four zones (two alarm zones, one technical zone and one pre-alarm zone). There is also a GSM dialler available, which is the only component requiring wires connection to the control unit.
