Colour day/night PTZ camera

July 2005 Surveillance

The E-Hammer-Head is a colour day/night PTZ camera for vehicle or fixed installations.

Many speed dome or PTZ cameras suffer from a lack of illumination in situations of poor or no light. The feature that makes the E-Hammer-Head useful in these situations is the integrated infrared illuminator. This illuminator operates in the 850 nm near infrared spectrum and has a ±35 m effective range. It is normally difficult or impossible to provide a speed dome camera with directed infrared illumination.

Utilising a high quality Sony CCD camera module, the E-Hammer-Head has an 18x Optical auto focus zoom lens. During the day, the camera provides a high quality colour image. During the night or below 10 lux, the camera switches to a night mode and provides a B/W image. When the light level drops further, the IR illumination is activated.

Pan range is 360° and tilt range 90°. Standard speed dome cameras suffer from the fact that they cannot tilt upwards, the E-Hammer-Head can. Featuring many of the same functions as a speed dome camera, the E-Hammer-Head has programmable preset camera positions, programmable patrol tours and alarm inputs. These can be set up and controlled via a joystick controller.

The alarm inputs are linked to the preset camera positions. When an alarm input is received, the camera moves to that particular preset position. Communication from the camera to the joystick controller is via 2-wire RS485 communications. Different communication protocols are supported, including the most popular industry types.

The camera comes with Mil-Spec connectors fitted for the power, data, video and alarm input connections. Included with each camera is a set of mating connectors terminated with a 1 m cable. Two power options are available, the first being 12 V d.c. for vehicle or portable applications and the second being the industry standard 24 V a.c. The 24 V a.c. models are recommended for fixed installations.

Other features include a configurable privacy mask, BLC and On-Screen-Display Menu.
