Intercom systems for various applications

July 2005 Access Control & Identity Management

One of the most important functions of all security residential estates is to have controlled and supervised access at all entrance and exit points. Biometric access, proximity tag and card systems, keypad pin access, transponder technology, CCTV number plate and facial recognition, etc, all have their place and application in the various residential, commercial and industrial sites the world over.

Quality audio/video intercom systems are the figurative gate between the visitor, the security personnel and the destination. This provides the necessary communication avenue that allows the access to be directly controlled by the resident.

Fermax provides a wide range of intercom systems that cater for all access applications, from standard one to one, two-wire audio systems to sophisticated bus line and digital audio and video entrance systems for larger applications.

Attractive entrance stations have an anodised aluminium finish, shaped chrome pushbuttons and backlit resident information plates. Internally, the electronics are engineered with the latest SMD technology, designed to ultimate durability with the most adverse weather conditions in mind. All units are weatherproofed by rubber seals and exact-fit back boxes.

Standard multihandset applications allow communication between the entrance station, guardhouse and the residences. More advanced systems allow selected intercommunication between the internal handsets of the residences.

New innovations include a unique wireless interface between the entrance panel and a cordless telephone handset. This allows the user to control the door or gate access as well as the freedom to accept telephone calls from anywhere within the premises.

Handset functionality includes cellphone-like features with intercommunication and call transfer capability. Expansion allows up to five devices, either entrance panels or handsets.

Other recent innovations derive from the market demand for multicamera video access systems. Fermax Video Control Kits are supplied with a video handset, entrance panel with camera, a video switcher, power supply, an electric lock and an extra camera for dual view surveillance, or with up to eight cameras, with the use of a camera selector accessory. This allows the resident a more confident access control facility via better access area surveillance and visitor recognition, all with only a video handset monitor system.

Coupled to some of these systems is a range of associated equipment such as Fermax's advanced MDS access control, including the MemoKey keypad, the button access key reader and the proximity card reader. Standalone accessories include the remote transmitter and receiver units. For more secure areas and sites, the aesthetically pleasing Bruto vandal resistant range of outdoor panels is available. The cast aluminium alloy modular casing provides fire resistance and resistance to vandal attacks.

Fermax audio and video intercom and access equipment is available from Regal.
