Focused on tangible results

May 2005 News & Events

A familiar face in the security technology industry now heads up a new enterprise, Loss Reduction Technologies, as managing director.

Speaking from the company's offices in Bramley Gardens, Johannesburg, Danie Liebenberg says that the company is poised to provide security systems that deliver tangible results. As the company's name and slogan, 'security systems that work' suggests, Loss Reduction Technologies strongly believes that clients should experience measurable reductions in their losses after they invest in security technology.

Says Liebenberg, "It is sad to see that, at a time when technology providers talk about partnering with their clients, that many clients are still disappointed with the returns on their investments."

The successful implementation of a solution can best be seen when, at an operational level within a client's organisation, personnel testify to measurable and sustained reduction in losses, while at managerial level the numbers make sense to the client.

Loss Reduction Technologies believes that haphazard assessments of clients' needs, the hasty selection of technology (often promoted to suit a provider's sales strategy instead of the client's needs), the poor implementation of recommended solutions and failure to manage the outcome of the solutions are at the heart of the problem.

"While it is true that the security industry is changing shape at a rapid pace making it a more complex and competitive environment to do business in, it can never be used as an excuse for not doing the right thing. We are all creating expectations with clients during the selling phases of our negotiations. If we do not have an appropriate solution, we should tell the client, and if we do have one, we should remain focused on what is truly in the interest of the client. Providers who wish to work within the industry today must be willing to accept responsibility for the outcome of their recommended solutions. The biggest danger in the convergence of the security and IT spaces is that the security industry ends up with a reputation for selling vapourware," Liebenberg concludes.

Loss Reduction Technologies has enhanced its own product offering with the strengths and experience of a number of alliance partners. Among these are some of the industry's prominent guarding companies, technology innovators, project managers, factory trained technicians and security management firms.
