Turnstiles are one of the most effective methods of controlling the access of persons entering and leaving a building and or its perimeter. As a physical barrier, turnstiles allow effective unmanned access to authorised persons and will also restrict access to unauthorised persons.

With Wits University situated in the heart of Johannesburg, it was necessary to increase overall security, especially on the perimeter of this large institution. The access of vehicles as well as pedestrians was to be controlled.

Flow Systems Heavy Duty turnstiles as well as Heavy Duty Traffic Boom Barriers together with long time associates Systec and IBM, were called upon to effectively control the access. Dozens of traffic barriers and turnstiles, industrial as well as prestigious, were purchased to secure the premises.

Other educational institutions where Flow Systems turnstiles are used include UNISA, Vista University, University of Natal, Pretoria Technikon, and Potchefstroom University.
