Security Roadshow comes to Richards Bay

July 2004 News & Events

The 20th of May 2004 dawned clear and sunny in Richards Bay. As veteran exhibitors of the Penmac Security Roadshow quickly and efficiently erected their stands there was an undercurrent of excitement.

For the first time the big name security suppliers would be exhibiting their latest technology on the doorstep of the industrial community of Richards Bay in a focused 'Security Only' exhibition. The success of the Security Link Road Show has largely been due to the wide spectrum and variety of security related products that visitors can see during their visit to this one-day event and this day was no exception.

The day turned out to be a wonderful winter's day at the coast with the weather behaving beautifully, a windless, warm and comfortable day.

After a light lunch the exhibitors were ready to face the onslaught of visitors, the first of which arrived promptly at four minutes after 12 noon.

There was a steady flow of visitors throughout the day that encompassed all the large industries in the area. Sectors covered included mining, smelters, heavy industry, sugar mills, saw mills and paper mills, railways, harbours, government security heads, municipalities and hospitals. And, of course, not forgetting the local security industry which was well represented from installers large and small to armed response and guarding companies.

The show was of great value to people in the security trade, suppliers and installers as well as company security and loss control managers, IT managers and buyers. These and other visitors such as specifying architects had nothing but positive comments to make about the show.

The equipment categories covered by the exhibitors include access control, biometric identification, CCTV, Intruder detection, fire detection systems, building management systems, fibre optic systems, RF and microwave telemetry, matrix switching systems, perimeter protection, elecrified fencing, control room systems, guard monitoring, protective clothing, bullet proof jackets, gate/door motors and remotes, and so much more.

The informal and relaxed format of the show, which was held at the Richards Hotel Conference Centre, encouraged visitors to spend quality time chatting with exhibitors, partaking of refreshments and informing themselves of the latest developments in security technology.

As the format of the show is very focused, visitors are assured that time spent will be relevant to their work environment and exhibitors have time to spend with each visitor. Because visitors are by invitation, exhibitors know that every visitor is a decision maker and worth spending time with. All this takes place in a friendly unhurried atmosphere making the occasion an enjoyable and informative one for all.
