Reditron launches RediWorx

December 2003 Integrated Solutions, Access Control & Identity Management, Integrated Solutions

Reditron has launched its latest RediWorx product range, a solution which it claims to be an industry first. Early in the progression towards digital systems, Reditron's technical department identified and predicted the major trends that were starting to emerge from this burgeoning industry. They determined that the market would ultimately demand systems that were not disparate and standalone but rather interactive, independent and interdependent. It is with this functionality in mind that Reditron put together the basic design of the type of systems these would entail. It was here that the concept of RediWorx was conceived.

According to Reditron technical director, Ettiene Swanepoel, "RediWorx, as the name implies, is a suite (the whole WORX) of products that encompasses centralised control and management functionality as well as being capable of existing in an independent standalone capacity."

The range consists of the following components:

* C&C (command and control centre).

* Guard (alarms and event management).

* Access (IP-based access control system).

* DigiNVR (digital video and network video recorders).

* POS (point of sale).

Says Swanepoel, "The command and control centre forms the glue that binds all the different components together in a homogenous 3D graphics front-end and centralised database. Now for the first time there is a CCTV, access control, point of sale, alarming, building management and time and attendance system, with not only a single PC style GUI (graphics user interface) but a true totally integrated, single control database design system with a user friendly, powerful, limitless expansion ability and industry standard high speed ethernet IP connectivity.

"In other words an MIS or management information system that not only compiles a centralised database from the integrated systems it was designed and connected with but can also extract data from other third party or hybrid systems as long as some form of communications bus has been established (Serial Port, LAN, WAN link, etc)," he adds. "In short it must be apparent to the industry that RediWorx not only brings a new dimension to the already vast range available from Reditron but also adds value in areas where industry needs it most."
