Hi-Tech Security Solutions in association with Dr Craig Donald will be hosting the third annual iLegal conferencing covering the effective and legal use of CCTV on 12 October 2010. iLegal brings together the best local and international experience dealing with the legal operation of CCTV in a variety of environments.
Organisations that make use of or are planning to use video surveillance to protect their assets and people will benefit from the practical discussions on implementing CCTV solutions that deliver results. iLegal is endorsed by the Consumer Goods Council of SA as well as the Retail Risk Association, led by Michael Broughton and will take place at the Southern Sun OR Tambo International in Johannesburg.
This year will see the keynote delivered by Graeme Gerrard, deputy chief constable at the Cheshire Constabulary in the UK.
Gerrard is a respected international speaker on CCTV and also makes representation to the UK Government as part of his responsibilities. He has also played a leading role in formulating the National Strategy for CCTV on behalf of the UK Government and he will be sharing the experience and the potential issues to be overcome with attendees.
Some of the other key presentations include:
* Afrisec's Gary Johnson will be offering a case study highlighting the challenges in reconciling different government, municipal, and commercial organisations in an integrated metro surveillance solution and some of the legal obligations and responsibilities that have to be addressed. Johnson can speak from experience about the intricacies of cooperation between government departments and the integration of diverse technology solutions.
* Every company with a surveillance solution needs to transmit video feeds and Gerhard Loots will be talking about the legal requirements incumbent upon them in ensuring they are able to use their videos in court with confidence.
* Veteran CCTV installer and integrator, Francois Malan will be discussing the benefits of thermal imaging and how these cameras can reduce expenditure while improving an organisation's security.
Other highlights of the day will include a senior prosecutor's view on presenting CCTV footage as evidence in court cases. What do prosecutors need to gain a conviction. The SAPS Forensic Lab will expound on the police department's use of CCTV as forensic evidence and how business can ensure it's evidence ensures a conviction. Internationally renowned industrial psychologist and CCTV expert, Dr Craig Donald will examine the types of surveillance evidence companies can collect and how to use them.
Then we will also look into the diamond mining industry as Colin Brown, global head of security of De Beers takes us through the real-world intricacies of a multinational policy for CCTV surveillance. CCTV surveillance is not only about cameras.
