April 2019 News

Founded in 1974 as a manned guarding company Bidvest Protea Coin has evolved over the years with a formidable track record and is now known as a security solutions provider of choice to many South African organisations and government institutions.

As part of the Bidvest Group, a listed company on the JSE, we proudly conduct our business in a responsible, ethical and fully compliant manner. With our combined management experience and our constant efforts to evaluate market trends and demands, we have developed a unique suite of products and services which address and mitigate risk across all market sectors.

Customer centric: Our customers are at the centre of our business philosophy which is driven by customer focused leadership, empowering our front line, understanding our customer by using metrics that matter and encouraging feedback to provide continuous improvement.

Agility: We assist our customers in solving their problems quickly and easily with a flexible ‘can do’ attitude and approach.

Services

Integrated, intelligence driven risk management services: Bidvest Protea Coin provide a range of products and services, that are ideally implemented and deployed as a total security solution, but can also be provided as single services, depending on our customer’s requirements and budget.

Guarding services: Bidvest Protea Coin employs over 24 000 PSIRA-accredited and trained security officers. This makes us the second largest employer in the South African security industry.

Investigations and information gathering: One of the most important elements separating good security companies from great ones is by developing an intelligence driven security organisation. The gathering and appropriate dissemination of relevant information is extremely powerful and all businesses are reliant on this to proactively fight crime.

Off-site monitoring: Our off site monitoring offering consists of three types of monitoring, namely continuous realtime surveillance, event driven monitoring and proactive ‘dial in’ CCTV operation patrols. Our state-of-the-art SAIDSA-approved control centre based in Centurion is operated by highly trained surveillance controllers 24-hours a day.

Technical security solutions: Technical Security division of Bidvest Protea Coin offers solutions grounded in delivering true business value to our customers. These are:

• Quality perimeter solution

• Advanced surveillance systems

• Integrated alarm systems

The information generated by the integrated solution is seamlessly digitised and processed by our AI platform which processes the data and provides predictive, prescriptive and preventative maintenance, information and total system health checks and status.

SACO: SACO has been disrupting the workforce optimisation space for over four decades. Quality tested and proven reliability supports the claim of being the ultimate workforce optimisation solution.

Fencing solutions: As part of our security philosophy of ‘protection from the outside in’, Bidvest Protea Coin’s specialised fencing division offers a range of customised fencing solutions.

Cargo protection services: Bidvest Protea Coin specialises in providing a complete solution for the protection of intermodal containers travelling by rail and road. Our internationally patented locking devices are unique and tamper proof.

Risk management consultancy: Bidvest Protea Coin specialise in providing professional and detailed security risk and threat vulnerability assessments which are concluded in a manner that is in line with generally accepted practices of the security profession.

Special operations unit: The South African marketplace is characterised by high levels of crime, labour unrest and protest action. Bidvest Protea Coin has an established division to deal with specialised security operations required in the most volatile and high risk areas.

Event management: The key objective in managing a successful event is safety and security. Securing a large scale event requires tremendous expertise and years of experience.

K9 unit: Bidvest Protea Coin provide K9 services to a number of customer specific requirements including general patrolling, human scent tracking, detection for narcotics, explosives, ammunition, rhino horn, abalone, and general cargo screening.

Tactical unit: Our tactical unit is a specialised division, which deals with customers who require armed proactive and reactive security in the most challenging urban and rural areas.

Secure mobility and VIP protection: Bidvest Protea Coin has a track record of experience in the field of secure mobility and VIP protection.

Airwing and drone support: Bidvest Protea Coin has its own helicopter together with two dedicated pilots. We have immediate access to a further eight additional helicopters and freelance pilots.

Corporate conscience

We have spent R78 million on skills development, and providing learnerships, and run formal and extensive CSI and ED initiatives.
