Following our recent article on the copper theft conference, local distributor, SecurityViewer, has its own solution to copper theft. It distributes Videofied, which it describes as a wireless video security system with a potential battery life of up to three years. It comprises a motion detector and camera in one.
Once installed, any motion activates the integrated camera and sends a 10-second video clip of the incident over the cellular network to a monitoring station. The operators can then identify that a crime is taking place, instead of a false alarm due to animals or wind, and dispatch a response vehicle or the SAPS.
The video verification process ensures resources are not wasted chasing false alarms, while real incidents are responded to appropriately.
