ProxNet - the intelligent choice in access control.

August '99 Access Control & Identity Management

Elvey International aims to maintain its leading edge in the security industry, by meeting the demands of access control with the release of ProxNet, an affordable and easy to instal access control system.

ProxNet operates off a single controller per system which can consist of up to 254 readers, all daisy-chained on an RS485 connection (capable of runs up to 1000 m) with a maximum of 2500 proximity card holders.

Both controller and readers maintain their data in nonvolatile memory with each reader designed to operate as a fully functional access control unit, with the ability to store the last 1800 transactions in the event of RS485 or controller failure. The controller is capable of storing 5900 transactions under similar circumstances.

Report management

The ProxNet controller can link to a parallel printer via its convenient printer port for transaction or report printing as well as to a PC for management of the system and reporting via the available windows 95/98/NT based software. All transactions are date, time and user stamped.

Controller features include panic input with separate reset, a 3A N/C, N/O alarm relay as well as an evacuation input which will release all doors when active.

Readers also feature a 3 A, noninductive relay for strike/maglock release, tamper switch, alarm input which will trigger at the controller when activated, exit pushbutton input and door sense switch input to monitor door open, closed or door forced open.

Programmability

The system is fully programmable from the keypad of the controller or software. Program-mable features include seven time zones, plus one over-ride time zone in up to 16 different areas, with 16 access levels, event counters ensure that a counter reaches zero access is denied to that card holder.

The anti-passback (APB) feature is programmable for high or low security installations and prevents two people sharing a card by keeping track of the users current location.

Validity periods are programmable per holder, outside of which holders are denied access. Strike and alarm times are also individually programmable.

ProxNet is also capable of remotely opening or locking all doors (denying access to all holders) from the controller or software and its autoreader address function makes it the intelligent choice in access control.
