AfriSam takes WFM into Africa

Access & Identity Management Handbook 2015 Access Control & Identity Management

AfriSam, a supplier of construction materials and technical solutions, expanded its existing Kaba WFM solution into Tanzania and is using Kaba’s biometric- and card-based SAP-certified and integrated solution (using B-Web 9300 terminals) to ensure seamless operation into a new environment.

AfriSam has been a client of AWM360/SAP since 2007, and uses the Kaba solution supplier to run its entire workforce management operation.

In 2015 AfriSam expanded into East Africa’s Tanzania as Tanga Cement and will utilise its Kaba time and attendance solution for accurate reading, monitoring and managing staff punctuality, and is positioned to add value.

The advantages of this technology include scalability, and the ability to link directly to an enterprise resource planning system to automate data collection and evaluation.

The Kaba B-COMM ERP 5 – SAP ERP integration platform is used to facilitate data exchange between the terminals and SAP HCM software, as well as with the Kaba B-web 9300 Series terminals.

This terminal infrastructure is differentiated in a competitive space by its level of adaptability to new environments, easy and reliable operation and high system availability as well as reliability in very challenging environmental environments.

“The solution is scalable to meet all necessary standards relating to enterprise-wide processes such as statutory and contractual conditions that can be defined by the user and by law. The system also ensures compliance with working-time rules and regulations. This level of flexibility and practical functionality is invaluable to our client,” says Guenter Nerlich, MD of AWM360 Data Systems.

The front end will run at AfriSam in Tanga, Tanzania and the SAP-related instance will be managed and run in South Africa.
