Securex 2015 returns with more than ever

May 2015 Conferences & Events

Securex makes its return to the South African security scene this year, replacing IFSEC SA. The organisers have gone all out this year to not only put on a good show, but to attract more people and add value for both exhibitors and visitors.

“We have revised the Securex brand in line with our Africa-centricity and a number of new features have been added to our popular existing features, to bring further value to visitors,” says Joshua Low, Securex Event Director at show organiser Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery.

Once again, Securex will be running its free-to-attend Seminar Theatre, to provide visitors with access to up-to-the-minute information on best practices, as well as pertinent industry-related and legislative issues. If you attended last year’s seminar, you will know that the presentations are well worth attending. Topics this year include:

• Africa: Tapping into growth opportunities, challenges and strategies.

• Funding for security SMEs.

• Adherence to fire standards.

• Cyber security: A pertinent business risk.

Securex will also host a new service that has previously been a roaring success overseas, The Global Meetings Programme (or Business Matchmaking). Participants will see themselves matched up with companies that are best able to devise solutions to their apparent threats and risks. Once a visitor has pre-registered, they can sign up for this service and they will be able to set up appointments to interact with specific supplier and manufacturers at the exhibition. This will substantially reduce the time it takes to find a suitable supplier, allowing visitors to maximise their time at Securex 2015.

Attention to the growing field of fire detection, monitoring and prevention will increase this year and the Fire Protection Association of South Africa (FPASA) will run a Fire Hazard Identification Challenge throughout the three days of the exhibition. This is based on a simulated office environment with six to eight fire hazards that will need to be identified by participants. All the correct entries will be entered into a draw for a voucher to attend the FPASA Fire Prevention and Strategies five-day course. A one-day seminar – InFIReS Seminar – will also be hosted by FPASA.

Moreover, an Installer Workshop is being launched at Securex 2015 to address the gap in what is deemed a very important sector of the industry. This interactive educational platform will provide installers with the latest technology trends and best practice from specialists in the field. Topping off the programme, an installer competition will be run on 14 May.
