June 2019 News & Events

The South African branch of TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association) will be holding its annual conference at Emperor’s Palace, Gauteng on 26 July 2019. The theme of this year’s event is ‘A Layered Security Approach to Cargo Protection’ and will feature a cross-section of speakers who are respected specialists in their particular fields.

Among the presenters will be Hein Gonzales who will speak on the topic ‘Firearm law vs. criminal law: Know your rights!’ Gonzales is an admitted attorney with the right of appearance in the High Court division of South Africa. During his journey in the legal sphere, he was part of litigation teams and court proceedings against a previous minister of police regarding issues relating to firearms in South Africa, litigation against various municipalities and the Department of Water and Sanitation regarding environmental issues such as pollution and non-compliance of legislation.

Speaking on the role of an effective Treasury function in business risk management will be Niel le Roux, the founder of Diligent Advisors, which assists clients to effectively manage their currency and interest rate risk. Having gained international exposure with Credit Suisse, initially in London and later in New York and Singapore, his years of specialising in foreign exchange have nurtured an in-depth knowledge of identifying and managing market risks.

Presentations will also be given by representatives of TAPA. Hi-Tech Security Solutions will keep its readers apprised of further details in the run-up to the event.

TAPA member companies can send up to three delegates at no charge, while non-TAPA members will be charged R1780.
