Rail safety solution

1 March 2018 Surveillance

Site crime, including theft, vandalism and arson remains a major challenge for the construction and demolition industry. With approximately 6000 break-ins per year through plant theft, sourcing a cost-effective, reliable and proactive site security solution is as vital as any part of your project.

WCCTV's Eco Site Tower is a rapid deployment CCTV tower specifically designed to provide site security at construction sites, utility sites or locations requiring remote monitoring where generator power is available. The WCCTV Eco Site Tower is an all-in-one site security solution that features the same specifications as the WCCTV Site Tower, but features a long-run battery offering a minimum 150-hour battery backup power.

Stratton Green Bridge in the UK was set to be closed for four months to allow essential works to be carried out, to prepare the bridge for the arrival of a new fleet of electric trains. Throughout the process, the bridge would be completely demolished and rebuilt creating additional space for overhead lines. It required site security for the duration of the works, with the ability to remotely access the camera. Time lapse video was also required to record the project as a whole.

WCCTV's body worn cameras have been utilised by Network Rail to deliver multiple applications, including safety and security, track and structural inspections, mobile operations management, health and safety, remote project overview and recording activities for training and review of procedures and practices.

Track and structural inspections mean that the camera will capture all footage and it can be reviewed to assess the conditions of the environment. Offers live transmission of video, audio, real-time alerts and GPS information via 4G/3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. The body worn camera enables an operator to connect to the camera in the field, view the live video, communicate with the wearer and determine their position via GPS. Alternatively, the wearer can send an alert back to the control room.
