Megapixel cameras in the real world

March 2016 Conferences & Events, News & Events

Megapixel cameras have received the lion’s share of the attention in the CCTV environment over the past few years. Mostly, these cameras promise clearer images and better analytics, which will benefit the CCTV operations of any organisation.

In his presentation at iLegal 2016, Leo Nardi, technical manager at Justicia Investigations, will take an insightful and practical perspective on the use of megapixel cameras at Toyota. He will discuss what the implications for such systems are, how much "oversell" of the technology there is, and if, as many vendors promise, other cameras are really replaced.

The increased sophistication of using such systems calls into question issues like first party or third party integration. It also shows the importance of IT involvement and highlights the need to ensure that costs do not run away from the original projections.

Leo will provide a realistic appraisal about how megapixel cameras can become part of your surveillance systems, offer suggestions on practical design issues, and use video footage to touch on some of the issues relating to practical viewing by surveillance personnel in the control room.
