CathexisVision 2016 unveiled

September 2015 Surveillance, Integrated Solutions

Cathexis Technologies is pleased to announce the arrival of CathexisVision 2016, the latest home-grown software release from Africa’s leading IP video management software developer. CathexisVision 2016 boasts an extended range of features, providing one of the most sophisticated security and infrastructure management tools on the market today.

CathexisVision turns any CCTV surveillance system into an instant smart surveillance solution with superior intelligence and functionality that maximises return on security investment. The added functionality provides so much more than just a security solution – but an infrastructure management tool with a detailed reporting system that enhances operations throughout any organisation.

On a practical level, CathexisVision allows for a quick and simple setup that can be customised to meet the unique needs of any organisation, regardless of the sector in which it operates. Over the past 19 years Cathexis has completed a host of installations in the widest range of industries, including: mining, banking, property, hospitality, retail, healthcare oil and gas, corporate, and educational.

“CathexisVision 2016 provides clients with the optimum surveillance solution” says Gus Brecher, managing director of Cathexis Africa and group marketing director of Cathexis Technologies. “With a broad range of intelligent new features, the CathexisVision 2016 Suite of Software can help organisations get the most out of their surveillance investment.”

New features at a glance

IP camera support: CathexisVision supports most popular brands of IP cameras. CathexisVision 2016 adds a host of new cameras to this list.

IP camera limit removed: Cathexis has also removed the prior 64 camera/server limit. So clients can now add hundreds of cameras on a single server depending on hardware performance.

Privacy zones: The privacy zone setup has been added so that clients can select certain cameras that they don’t want operators to view.

Event and action management: CathexisVision offers intelligent configuration of events and the actions that can be initiated in response to these events.

Third-party systems integration: Cathexis has added several new integrations to its list of third-party systems. These include: Gallagher Access Control and Fence Monitoring System, Risco Alarm Panels, ARCH Point-of-sale, Stinger Fence Monitoring, Talaris Ntegra Money Counter, Interceptor Environment Monitoring system and many others.

PoPI requirements: Features that comply with most Protection of Personal Information requirements have been included in our smart archiving tools.

Multi-head IP camera support: Cathexis has modified its licensing so that cameras with multiple heads will require only one camera licence. Cathexis has also removed the borders from camera views to enhance the stitched image appearance for these cameras.

People counting: Cathexis has released a 3D People Counting feature for exceptionally accurate counting.

Video overlays: Cathexis has added a new enhanced intelligent overlay so that video analytics and third-party integration transactions to be viewed on one interface.

Multi-server site management: This is a true site-based management infrastructure with multiple recording and viewing servers, cameras, and storage all managed from a centralised location.

Access rights management: CathexisVision software offers multiple levels of users each with a unique username and password. Administrators can manage users across the site, or across multiple sites, from a central location.

Offsite and multi-site monitoring: This is authentic remote client system management that includes performing all system functions from set-up to viewing, reviewing and system management, from anywhere around the world.

Alarm management: A black-screen monitoring approach is used, in which the system generates an alarm that guides the user to the camera that should be monitored.

Camera parameter cloning: Settings like multiple video streams, resolutions, frame rates and bitrates are easily copied and pasted from one reference camera to as many other site cameras as possible, reducing site setup times significantly.

ANPR: CathexisVision provides an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) solution for both low- and high-speed applications. Licence plates are recognised and stored in a database with associated video footage. These licence plates can be compared to blacklists or whitelists in real-time, which provides the ability to take appropriate action against these comparisons. Licence plates for more than 200 countries have been tested, and we include Arabic character recognition.

Map interface: The maps feature provides multi-layered, hierarchical, and interactive interfaces. This provides representation and control of a site and its resources.

Video analytics: Algorithms provided include a multi-zone SMART learning motion detection algorithm, abandoned or removed object detection, loitering, speed, direction, line crossing, queue length analysis and object counting.

Diagnostics: A powerful diagnostics suite to analyse the whole system environment, both in real time and historically that enables partners to easily troubleshoot problems on-site.

Health monitoring: The Cathexis Health Manager provides real-time analysis of the system and can be configured to send alarms to selected recipients if problems are detected.

Failover: CathexisVision provides complete redundancy by way of its elegant failover feature. This ensures that if any recording and video management server fails on site, a failover server will automatically perform the tasks of the failed server.

Integrations that enhances technology

Over the years, Cathexis Technologies has partnered with some of the leading names in the industry to provide superior integration capabilities, which enhances the already advanced functionality associated with CathexisVision. With the ability to integrate and synchronise various security and business solutions with CathexisVision software for a holistic and centralised management solution, security personnel literally have complete control over the entire site. Examples of these integrations, include: access control, alarm panels, fence management, fire panels, IP cameras, licence plate recognition, money counters, point of sale, third-party analytics, and weighbridges.
