Perimeter fence detection

Modular, manufacturer of the AcoustAlert fence detection system using microphonic cable as a sensor mounted onto fences or perimeter structures, has added user I/O to its field processor unit, thus enabling it to operate in a stand-alone mode as well as on an IP network.

This new feature will enable the detection system to operate independently of a control PC, as the LAN-only model does, thus enabling the user to connect the AcoustAlert field processor directly to third-party, home and business alarm systems.

The new model processor has potentially free alarm output contacts for each of the two detection zones, which will trigger if interference is detected via the acoustic sensor cables mounted on fencing and perimeter structures.

The AcoustAlert stand-alone field processor can be set up to user defined sensitivity parameters in just a few minutes by use of a simple software utility installed onto a laptop and using a standard crossover network cable to the new field processor.

Since the launch of the IP based acoustic analyser, AcoustAlert, there has been more demand for a standalone version which can be connected to conventional alarm systems without the need for a control PC, according to the company’s Cliff Rose.

Applications for the new standalone AcoustAlert detection system include

perimeter protection around townhouse and estate developments.

• Protection for warehouses using Chromadek or IBR sheeting as side wall structures.

• Burrowing below electric fences where the alarm contacts are connected directly to energiser alarm inputs.

• Intrusion detection for facilities like cell phone repeater stations located in remote locations, alarm contacts being connected to devices like GSM Commander.
