Market leader in government and healthcare

August 2014 News & Events

Gemalto has been ranked first in ABI Research’s latest competitive assessment of leading suppliers for government and healthcare electronic documents such as smart cards and passports, as well as associated solutions and services. The report that established Gemalto’s top ranking takes into account share of the ID market plus the following qualitative criteria:

* An innovative and comprehensive portfolio of platforms and services for governments and citizens.

* Advanced production capabilities and service delivery.

* Best list of references and the company’s ability to positively impact the development of the government ID market.

In addition, ABI recognised that Gemalto has been extremely proactive in promoting and illustrating the benefits of electronic documents technology and digital ID for the public sector. The company actively contributes to international standards as well as industry groups, and recently founded the Secure Identity Alliance together with other digital ID companies.

Some of the leading African government and healthcare projects Gemalto contributed to on the continent include the delivery of the secure South African smart eID card, a complete eHealthcare solution for the benefit of Algeria’s citizens; a computerised, biometric voter registration project in both Benin and Burkina Faso; a national electronic health insurance card programme in Gabon; a full e-Immigration solution to help control Ghana’s borders; and the Moroccan biometric passport programme – the first biometric ePassport to be issued in Africa.
