A preview of iLegal 2013

February 2013 News & Events

Back by popular demand, iLegal 2013 will be taking place on 14th March 2013 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Rosebank, Johannesburg (on the Gautrain route). As always, iLegal 2013 promises to be the leading event of the year for everybody involved in the use, operation, installation and implementation or any aspect of surveillance, from security managers, executive managers, IT leaders and technology providers and installers.

Well-known surveillance and control room expert, and co-sponsor of the event, Dr Craig Donald will start the event off with the keynote presentation on 'UK CCTV strategy and standards dynamics and implications for SA'.

The UK is known as the leader in CCTV issues after many years of surveillance in its cities and government locations. There have also been a few notable failures, but it is worth learning from the UK’ many successes and few failures in developing our own surveillance strategies and rollout plans. Dr Donald will highlight areas we can learn from and how we could develop our own strategies to create and meet the ultimate goals of surveillance projects.

Selma Visser from the Consumer Goods Council will also be introducing the new CGCSA CCTV Industry Guideline. The first guidelines were introduced a few years ago to help retailers in getting the maximum value from their CCTV systems. The CGC gathered the best minds in the business together last year and has developed an updated document that is sure to help its community to develop and implement CCTV best practices that get results.

And that is only the beginning, the day will contain more of the best in CCTV and surveillance presentations in the country, including a real-life case study of how CCTV foiled a retail syndicate. Look out for more previews in future ezines.
