Oil company upgrades process control and security solutions

February 2013 Integrated Solutions

Honeywell has announced it has signed an agreement with Alliance Oil Company, a leading independent oil operator in Russia and Kazakhstan, to supply Honeywell Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) at Alliance Oil Company’s Khabarovsk Refinery in far east Russia. The agreement will also include upgrading the plant’s security with the latest Honeywell security solutions, Radar Video Surveillance (RVS) perimeter security and OptaSense pipeline security.

The five-year agreement to use Experion PKS will allow the refinery to integrate data from all critical process subsystems to improve decision-making, reduce on-going maintenance costs by enabling operators to more easily monitor and manage all aspects of the production process and improve the productivity and profitability of the production process.

Security at the refinery will be substantially increased by the installation of RVS perimeter security, a Waterside Security System that integrates radar, Automatic Identification System (AIS), video and thermal sensor data to provide the highest value wide area surveillance system available. The refinery will also benefit from OptaSense pipeline security to provide early warning of any threats to the refinery’s pipeline.

“By installing a complete range of Honeywell technology we hope to vastly improve our competitive advantage by optimising our process efficiencies.” said Eugene Vorobeichik, general director Alliance Oil Company. “We chose Honeywell technology as it is designed to provide a complete solution for not only improving our control systems, but also ensuring the security of staff and our facilities.”

As part of the agreement, Honeywell experts will also be on-hand to provide specialist training and support to operators at the Khabarovsk Refinery throughout the five-year period.

“All Honeywell technology is designed to help our clients meet their core business objectives through streamlining and enhancing their processes.” said Leonid Sorkin, general director, Honeywell Russia. “We are excited to be working with the Alliance Oil Company, and extent of our collaboration underlines Honeywell’s commitment to providing the most innovative and useful technologies for our customers.”
