Microwave perimeter protection

1 January 2013 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection

Keep Access Control Systems now offers the CIAS Electronics range of microwave perimeter detection products, all based on fuzzy logic behaviour models which enable security systems to discriminate between false alarms and real intrusions. The products are manufactured to strict European and USA standards of quality.

The SIOUX is a fence perimeter protection system in which prewired inertia sensors, designed to pick up on intrusions via climbing, cutting and lifting, are looped together and installed directly on a fence. Information is sent to the control centre along the same cable on which up to 64 inertial sensors can be mounted. The system is combined with a CCTV platform that will focus a specific camera on the alarmed zone.

The Ermo 482X Pro Series involves an invisible microwave volumetric barrier wall which detects movement between a transmitter and a receiver. Information is sent to a converter/repeater, digitally processed and analysed using fuzzy logic technology, then sent to the control room. Field range available is 50 m, 80 m, 120 m, 200 m, 250 m and 500 m.

Murema is a digital volumetric microwave sensor. Using dual Doppler technology, Murena, on intrusion, starts a detailed analysis of the signal generating the alarm. Information is sent via a serial bus connected to the IB system, to the control room, where it is converted and activates an audible alarm. Murena is particularly suitable for areas free of obstacles or for irregularly shaped areas in which fixed obstacles are present and is available in five different versions with ranges of 12 m or 24 m, to suit specific areas.

Pythagoras is a multi-technology barrier using intelligent microwave and active infrared to create a solid secure barrier and can be connected to a video system. As soon as an intruder enters, he will be detected. The system has a very wide range of possibilities and information can also be transported over a local-area network (LAN). In the control room, alarm information is connected, together with a complex string of information useful to the operator, to the video system, which can then be zoomed in on a specific area.

Newton Plus is a patented, hybrid infrared barrier. In order to send information from areas where it is not possible to hard-wire in the field, the IB system uses wireless communication. The radio transmission will send the alarm information to the control room, where the operator, thanks to the IB TEST Map Pro software, will see on the site map exactly where the intrusion is. Newton Plus can distinguish between bad weather/direct light and a real intrusion. Advanced configuration via PC is an important feature of this product.
