Virdi appointed as exclusive master distributor for Africa

September 2012 News & Events

South African biometric products supplier, Virdi Distribution SA, has been appointed as the sole Master Distributor for ViRDI products in Africa.

At the annual Virdi Partners conference held in Cape Town, Yoshik Shin, CEO of Union Community, extended Virdi Distribution’s area of coverage from southern Africa to the entire African continent.

“We have been extremely pleased with the enthusiasm and performance of Virdi Distribution SA over the past four years and believe that they are perfectly positioned, in terms of technical and marketing capabilities, to substantially increase the ViRDI footprint throughout Africa,” says Shin.

Virdi Distribution MD, Jonathan Kahn, says, “We have grown our business infrastructure, technical capabilities and knowledge base in order to provide our southern African customers with a superior biometric product offering. The Virdi biometric readers are unique in that they offer both live and fake fingerprint recognition as standard. Now we will be able to share these high quality products with other African countries.”

Kahn pointed out that Virdi Distribution will establish a ViRDI distribution network in Africa in two ways: “Firstly, we will communicate with existing distributors in these countries to determine best fit. Secondly, where we cannot use existing channels or there are simply no current channels, we will appoint distributors who can market and support the entire ViRDI product base.”

Kahn explained that comprehensive training on the product range as well as business strategy training will be given to the selected distributors. “We are passionate about the ViRDI biometric products and we will invest whatever resources are necessary to ensure that the distribution network receives appropriate and benchmarked training and skills transfer. The training will be provided in both South Africa as well as in their country of origin, in order to equip them with the necessary tools to advise customers on installations, provide the products, undertake installations and provide ongoing aftermarket support.”
