Advanced Acoustic Field Processor

August 2012 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection, Products & Solutions

Modular’s new Advanced Acoustic Field Processor (AAFP) based on CobraNet technology, is now compatable to microphonic detection cable using piezoelectric and triboelectric cable characteristics.

In addition to the application of this product with these types of cables for perimeter fence detection, Modular has released two new detection sensors, Diskflex and Bridgeflex, which can be fitted onto fixed objects which monitor the siesmic impacts and tampering of the objects they are fixed to.

Typical applications include monitoring the movement of valuable items which could be paintings to strategic plant and machinery. Tests using these detectors have been carried out on electric fence strain wires which will bring an added level of detection capablity to electric fencing. The Discflex sensor has an amazing acoustic response and has been deployed nationally with our AAFP to monitor speaker sound systems failures on ComutaNet outdoor audiovisual advertising billboards. The AcoustAlert field processors, being LAN compatable are networked linked and report failures to a central service centre.

The Bridgeflex sensors are currently being tested on big electrical motors used in industrial manufacturing and service industries. Bridgeflex can monitor the acoustic changes of these motors when they are under normal, under-load and overload conditions and generate an alarm depending on user criteria.

The application of Modular’s AcoustAlert field processor and variety of sensor devices is further enhanced by in house software development applications manipulating the data to achieve real objectives and result. Data is written to an SQL data bases and from there can be monitored and displayed in GUI formats according to client requirements. What makes the field processor unique is the intelligence of the design which is based on user defined acoustic DSP circuit designs which can be conceptialised graphically and then burnt into the field processor to make it a purpose made process and signal analyser for the application at hand.

AcoustAlert is made in Port Elizabeth.
