Technology driving fire safety at Firexpo 2025

Issue 2 2025 News & Events, Fire & Safety

The adoption of smart technologies, including IoT-enabled fire detection and suppression systems, is advancing building safety and operational efficiency. These progressive systems provide real-time monitoring, enabling instant detection of potential fire hazards and seamless communication between devices.

“By streamlining maintenance processes and automating emergency responses, facilities can address issues faster and more effectively, reducing downtime and mitigating risks. This innovative integration, not only enhances safety, but also empowers facility managers with valuable data to optimise long-term performance and improve decision making.

“These technology trends are highlighted at Firexpo, which takes place at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from 3 to 5 June 2025,” says Mark Anderson, portfolio director at Specialised Exhibitions.

Firexpo focuses on taking the guesswork out of ensuring complete fire safety compliance within buildings. “As regulations change, safety and risk officers, and building managers are hard-pressed to keep pace with the exact requirements to ensure occupant safety and wellbeing. Firexpo’s role is to provide informed choices for the market, helping visitors to find the best solutions for their specific needs,” says Anderson.

He points out that industry professionals are hungry for fire safety technology and services that allow them to effectively monitor and manage fire risks, while balancing the costs of implementing advanced fire safety systems within budgetary constraints. “The providers of fire safety solutions benefit from a captive audience actively seeking answers to their issues. The level of networking over the three days of the expo is unrivalled and creates a platform for the exhibitors and visitors to dynamically interact through live demonstrations and intensive discussions.”

Firexpo’s co-location with Securex South Africa, A-OSH EXPO, and Facilities Management Expo brings further benefits to exhibitors and visitors. “We find that visitors who have come to a specific expo, for instance, Securex South Africa, often walk through the co-located expos and find complementary solutions. For exhibitors, this means a greater footfall on their stands, and for visitors it means substantial time saving,” says Anderson.

Finally, the free-to-attend Firexpo Seminar Theatre, the free-to-attend Securex Seminar Theatre, Saiosh Seminar Theatre, Working at Height and Safety Seminar Theatre, and the Facilities Management Seminar Theatre are further attractions for visitors. “We encourage interested industry professionals and potential exhibitors to visit the website — www.firexpo.co.za — to learn about all the features and benefits of exhibiting and visiting Firexpo,” says Anderson.

Organisations wishing to exhibit at Firexpo 2025 can contact the Firexpo team at [email protected] or [email protected] to book a space or capitalise on a sponsorship opportunity.
