Tips and tools for trade businesses

February 2024 News & Events, Training & Education

ServCraft has announced the launch of blox, a digital content platform and community that develops business best practices, step-by-step guides, and practical tools for tradespeople. blox launched on the 22 January 2024.

Trade business owners typically come from technical backgrounds, having inherited business knowledge and ways of work from previous technical roles before starting their own businesses. This can hamper the development of their businesses as they are often held back due to limited exposure, formal education, and application of business concepts across sales, marketing, operations, finance, people, and technology.

The result is that they often get stuck in a vicious cycle of being ‘too busy to be less busy’, and therefore do not find the time to learn and change. blox, by ServCraft, is a digital content platform and community providing business best practices, how-to guides and practical tools for tradespeople.

blox partners

ServCraft has partnered with industry member associations and companies to promote and distribute blox regularly to their members and customers. In the security industry, blox partners are:

• SMART Security Solutions

• SAIDSA

• IDS

• ZK Teco

Andrew Seldon, Editor of SMART Security Solutions, said, “Technical skills are paramount to security installers and integrators. Still, business skills are equally necessary in finding, closing, and retaining customers, not to mention keeping the business going for the long run.”

SMART Security Solutions will include blox content on www.securitysa.com and point readers back to the blox site to assist them in running their security businesses successfully.”

Hendrik Combrinck, Managing Director, ZK Teco South Africa, added, “We are excited to collaborate with ServCraft on the distribution of blox. Much of the material available for the security industry in South Africa is focused on the technical elements of the trade. The business-oriented content provided by blox promises to help ZK Teco customers, members, and all South African security installers to run and grow better businesses.”

ServCraft’s CEO, Charles Freedman, said, “I’m delighted that our vision to impact lives, businesses, and industries across South Africa is shared by our partners. We want blox to be owned and shaped by the trade business owners and partners who are going to use it.”
