JVA electric fence systems

SMART Estate Security 2023 Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection

JVA Electric Fence Systems are distributed by Stafix Security Centres in South Africa. JVA has the widest range of perimeter-monitored fence solutions. We offer low and high voltage, amperage, taut wire, and vibration monitoring solutions. We also have a wide range of fence line accessories designed by and for the South African market.

The standalone JVA Perimeter Management software is a leading perimeter management choice for housing estates in South Africa, with over 500 housing estates using JVA Perimeter Patrol. The software is tried and tested and used in over 50 countries worldwide. The software, via an easy-to-use Windows-based interface, can be used to quickly view logs and the status and voltages of the electric fences and devices, alert and email the user when fences, gates or other devices need attention, arm and disarm electric fences according to a custom schedule if required, and remotely access the fence system if needed by estate management. The software easily integrates with other external providers, such as access control and CCTV providers, allowing for easy communications and pop-ups.

The advanced Multi-Site HLI (High-Level Interface) management software allows the option of many sites to be managed and monitored from a remote location. The offsite software and other options, such as Cloud Router software, provides redundancy and alternate solutions to onsite management software.

The unique patented pulse synchronisation method employed by JVA allows the system to use up to the full, allowable, powerful but safe, 8 Joules per zone. It is S.A. National Standards compliant, giving JVA fences the ability to have up to twice the power per zone than most competitors have in a multi-energiser perimeter scenario. The JVA Z18 Energisers also have the Bi-Polar option, increasing the level of monitoring, lowering the level of false alarms, and increasing the level of security.

What is Bi-Polar fencing? Conventional electric security fences are wired with alternate live and earth return wires. This means every second wire can be touched with no shock or detection occurring. Even the live wire being touched alone often does not create an effective shock or deterrent. This is because intruders usually wear rubber-soled shoes, which insulate them from the ground and thus the shock, so it is necessary for them to touch both wires to receive a shock. On a Bi-Polar fence, a positive pulse is transmitted along one wire and a negative pulse along the next wire. This means that every wire on the fence is now live, and as with a conventional electric fence, when both wires are touched, the intruder receives the full shock.

The difference between the bipolar and conventional electric fence configurations is that the voltage of the wires in a bipolar fence is half that of the single live wire configuration. This is especially important in coastal areas where salt in the air increases arcing. No one can tell the difference between touching the live and ground wires on a conventional electric fence and touching the positive live and negative live wires on a bipolar fence because the electric shock is exactly the same. The net benefit of Bi-Polar fencing is improved safety because all wires are energised, all wires are monitored, and there is no nuisance coastal clicking. Converting to a Bi-Polar fence is a definite improvement to any property’s security fencing system.
