Fidelity SecureFire steps into critical fire response space

Issue 5 2023 News & Events

A fire at residential or business premises can result in death, burns, smoke inhalation and other devastating consequences for family members or employees. If help does not arrive in time, home or business owners may lose everything.

Fidelity Fire Solutions, a division of the Fidelity Services Group, is stepping into the forefront of fire safety with a unique ‘own first responder’ model, Fidelity SecureFire.

The model is being launched to Johannesburg and Tshwane customers and includes a fire chief and 51 fully trained firefighters on standby 24/7.

“Fidelity ADT armed response officers will also be ‘first responders’ as part of this critical new service, and have the required equipment to handle minor fires at homes, such as those involving generators or batteries,” explains Wahl Bartmann, Group CEO at Fidelity Services Group.

The service is reinforced by rapid intervention units made up of nine fire engines and water tankers and pumps to supply water. First responders will also be equipped with a fire extinguisher to douse lithium batteries, which, Bartmann points out, is of vital importance at the moment with so many of these in operation due to load shedding.

Including dedicated armed response vehicles, the response team in the region will be 440 vehicles. Bartmann says the move to launch Fidelity SecureFire was necessary due to the majority of fire stations being crippled by a lack of resources to offer effective responses when residents need this most.

“Anyone who has experienced a fire at home or at their business knows that every second counts. The frightening reality is that even a small kitchen fire can devastate a home far more quickly than your local fire brigade is able to arrive on the scene.”

“Fidelity SecureFire is a new leader in fire safety services. With a team of highly trained professionals and state-of-the-art response equipment, our comprehensive range of services includes fire prevention, education and emergency responses.”

“Our resources will be able to respond effectively to all domestic household fires. Basically, wherever the danger is and where our customers and/or their property are in harm’s way due to a fire, they can rely on us being their first line of defence.”

Customers will access the service at a nominal additional fee as they do Fidelity ADT’s other services – by phoning the emergency number (086 12 12 401), by pushing the panic button on their alarm panel, pushing a static panic button or by using the Secure app.

Bartmann adds that while metaphoric, they are positioning Fidelity SecureFire as firefighters switching their traditional red uniforms for green uniforms; a changing of the guard from the present to the future.”
