Active access control

Issue 6 2021 Access Control & Identity Management

The Virgin Active health centre at Vodaworld in Midrand welcomes hundreds of customers daily. Ensuring that only validated vehicles gain access to the facilities required the installation of two Turnstar Velocity traffic booms and five fixed bollards at the entrance to the parking area of the health centre.

The fixed bollards are widely used as static barriers to provide vehicle access control and parking management of secured areas. They are manufactured from high-quality steel and come in a variety of shapes, sizes, heights and colours, depending on the specific requirements of the client and to suit most urban architectural designs. Options include:

• 127, 220, 275 and 355 mm diameter.

• 500, 600 and 800 mm heights.

“Our fixed bollards offer permanent collision protection and provide a visual deterrent for unwanted traffic. These durable steel bollard posts are ideal if you want to protect an area that no vehicle should ever access,” says Craig Sacks, CEO of Turnstar.

The Velocity automatic industrial vehicle barrier, with SwiftDrive technology, is the perfect vehicle access control solution for areas with a need for medium security levels and high volumes of traffic. Providing a 100% duty cycle, the barrier is well-known for its durability and reliability, proving extremely popular in parkades, shopping centres, residential estates and office parks.

An integrated OPTIC LED light strip ensures maximum visibility, user safety and aesthetics. The barrier is ultra-bright, providing maximised visibility to users at night-time and in bright sunlight.

“The Velocity is designed for high-speed operation and users can select from four adjustable raise and lower speed settings. We’ve further engineered in seamless precise speed control with dynamic braking and slow stop for a completely user-friendly experience. The intelligent collision detection and mid-cycle auto-reverse feature provides user safety assurance,” says Sacks.
