Wireless, paperless visitor management

Issue 4 2021 Access Control & Identity Management, Products & Solutions, Commercial (Industry)

The VISITME scanner solution is a visitor management system based on a wireless handheld device which scans and captures vehicle and occupant information at an access-controlled site. The scanners are used by security personnel positioned at the site; however, the user of the scanner has no means of approving access without pre-approval from a resident, thus focusing on secure living.

The scanner scans and decrypts vehicle and trailer licence disc information and vehicle occupant information from barcodes on SADC, ID books, passports and temporary licences.

The system has been audited and is PoPI Act compliant. All information captured on the scanning device is encrypted and immediately uploaded to a secure storage platform. Access of captured personal information is limited to authorised personnel only for reporting purposes. The SmartApp is developed locally and offers users easy-to-use functionality at no additional cost. The download is freely available on both Google Play and Apple iStore.

The solution is paperless, has no licencing fees or per-user costs and saves time on processing visitors. The new SmartApp requires no printers or guard books and removes the need for intercoms and access-controlled gate congestion.

The app includes features such as:

• A ‘Favourites’ list for residents to assign pre-bookings.

• Group bookings in the events of birthday parties or trustee events.

• Pin location which identifies the exact location should an access-controlled site have more than one gate or entrance.

• Resident notifications are sent once the visitor has been scanned and entered the gate.

VISITME is a product of SA Technologies (SATEC). The solutions are available nationwide with offices based in Pretoria, KwaZulu-Natal as well as the Western Cape.
