Duxbury Networking launches Solar Switch

November 2019 Infrastructure, Products & Solutions

Duxbury Networking has launched its Solar Switch with tailored capabilities for applications in less-accessible areas. The solar switch was designed to cater for remote locations where electricity is not freely available.

The product is aimed at locations like mines, construction sites, game farms, forestry, solar and wind farms, and mission-critical installations where load shedding is frequent. As an example, this switch offers unique capabilities for anti-poaching operations, as it can be used to power surveillance setups in remote locations.

The DUX106SPS is a 6-port unmanaged gigabit PoE switch that offers 5 gigabit PoE ports and 1 SFP port. The switch supports various PoE outputs on each port with a total budget of 75 W, suitable for IEEE802.3af/at compatible powered devices. The switch is designed from industrial strength material with low power usage and a fanless design. The working temperature supports -20°C to 65°C, making it ideal for various harsh environments.

Input support is either 12 V or 24 V from solar panels, batteries (lead-acid or lithium) and normal AC/DC power supplies. The compact design makes it the best choice for installation on remote outdoor sites.

The solar switch is designed to offer low power consumption and has industrial components with a 100% ageing test. There is no fan to ensure a mute design and uses a cooling hold inside. These features make the switch stable and reliable in harsh environments.

With plug and play capabilities, users can easily understand the working status of the device through the power indicator (PWR), port status indicator (Link/POE), battery status indicator (BOT.BIN) and system status indicator (CPU).

Network interface:

All gigabit interface, up to 12G backboard bandwidth.

1 x 60 W PoE++ port.

2 x 802.3af/at, maximum 30 W ports.

2 x 48 V/24 V adaptive PoE interface, supports active PoE and passive PD, maximum 25 W.

1 x SFP fibre port.
