Edwards Public Address & Voice Alarm System

October 2019 Security Services & Risk Management, Products & Solutions

Edwards was founded by the inventor of the first electric bell in 1872, and has grown into a recognised company that provides fire-safety and security solutions around the world. In 2005 Edwards was acquired by General Electric and became part of the GE Security brand. Today, Edwards is part of Carrier, a global provider of innovative heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, fire, security and building automation technologies. When facility owners and designers do business with Edwards, their investment is underwritten by a solid 140-year history of dedication to alarm and detection technology. That’s why today, building professionals the world over agree that when it comes to protecting people and property, Edwards systems deliver on a long-standing promise of excellence that has been met for generations.

We are therefore excited to add the Public Address & Voice Alarm (PAVA) range to our fire product offering, as this is being requested more and more due to its clear advantages. One of which is the fact that it has been proved that people react faster to voice guidance during emergencies. Studies have shown 75% of people react in a timely manner to voice messages, while only 13% of people react in a timely manner to bells/sounders.

The EST ENT VES system has been designed to offer exceptional versatility and it is therefore equally suitable for medium-range buildings as well as complex commercial structures. The system fully complies with the European mandatory standard EN 54-16.

The system’s architecture is based on proven fibre-optic Ethernet connectivity between control units and other elements of the system thus enabling digital transmission of voice messages, including public address functions and music.

The modular design of the CU and its flexibility enable optimisation of equipment and cost efficiencies regardless of size, number of structures and buildings, their location and connectivity.

The EST ENT VES system comprises of control devices, multi-channel amplifiers, fireman and zone microphones and 20-key extension keyboards.

The EST VES is a scalable public address & voice alarm unit suitable for multi-purpose architectures. Devices from the EST VES series are voice alarm compact control units containing all components within a single compact housing, the system fully complies with the European mandatory standards.

The whole concept of the system is based on the high quality audio network distribution nodes equipped either with two independent 160 W or 320 W class D amplifiers, which distribute 100 V signals to 4 or 8 speaker lines depending on the type.

The EST VES control unit’s network cards allow to join several industrial buildings into one integrated system.

Included with the launch of this range of control units and amplifiers we introduce the full range of ancillary devices.

Thanks to the most advanced technologies the EST-S series loudspeakers combine excellent acoustic parameters and high aesthetics with resistance to mechanical damages and varying weather conditions. They are distinguished by easy and quick installation. Quality standards and audio characteristics have been confirmed through tests and trials in an anechoic chamber, resistance and integrity testing equipment, as well as chambers for resistance to weather and air humidity testing. In spite of the fact our loudspeakers are designed for the highest reliability under fire conditions, their acoustic parameters and attractive low prices make them successful in any and all public address systems.

The microphone is an affordable fully analogue device. It is equipped with a built in gong generated onboard the device, with an LCD variant, built in speaker, POE support and programmable function buttons. With these options we are able to provide a solution for almost any application. Completing the range is a user friendly and intuitive remote configuration graphical interface.

With its broad and innovative product range, UTC Fire & Security aspires to make true on Carrier’s fire and security products mission: to make the world a safer place to live by protecting people, properties and assets.
