Realtime digital video recorder

February 2002 News & Events

The Hi-Q digital video recorder is the latest innovation in realtime digital video recorders from Philips Communication, Security & Imaging (CSI). Hi-Q simultaneously records four channels of high resolution, high quality pictures and is able to record, play back and archive video simultaneously.

The video recorder uses a dedicated MPEG-2 compression engine (the DVD compression standard) on all four video channels, providing a total of 240 IPS at the NTSC video standard (200 IPS at the PAL video standard). This allows all video channels to simultaneously record realtime, high-resolution video with minimum compression artifacts and high compression rates.

Each video channel can be individually configured to record at realtime or time lapse rate. Utilising realtime recording, the Hi-Q is able to record up to 48 hours continuously on all four channels. Total recording time can be further optimised through the selection of a combination of four time-laspe modes, three quality settings and a built-in scheduler. For even more storage the Hi-Q is compatible with archiving devices.

Other features of the Philips Hi-Q realtime digital video recorder include: dark and sync loss alarms, dual monitor outputs, quad and full screen display, digital PTZ, audio, sequencing and password protection.
