Africa’s biggest security and fire exhibition

August 2016 News & Events

Securex 2016 opened its doors in May 2016 and saw a record number of visitors attending the biggest security and fire exhibition in Africa. In total, exhibitors were visited by 6 374 people over the three days of the show, clearly indicating the exhibition has what it takes to draw the attention of security buyers and advisors.

Securex 2016 not only delivered a 19,74% year-on-year increase in high calibre visitors, it also provided a 27,5% increase in international visitors and brought in 314 visitors from 25 different African countries. For the first time, the top industry associations in South Africa also endorsed the show, while the educational and informative presentations consistently attracted visitors.

Another first for Securex, 45 of the 168 exhibitors were at the event for the first time. After the event, new and returning exhibitors remarked on the quality of the visitors they interacted with, while simultaneously boasting of the solid leads they were able to come away with once the doors closed.

Work has started on the 2017 exhibition, which is set to break even more records.

Praise from the floor

Bennie Luyt from ITAS, a first-time exhibitor, commented, “We have been in business for 27 years and never marketed ourselves. We decided to use Securex 2016 as our official launch pad and we were extremely impressed with the volume and calibre of visitors. We saw a lot of cross-border visitors, which is an area we are definitely targeting. Securex allowed the visitors to appreciate the look-and-feel of our custom built banking environment solution.”

An exhibitor who has been a regular at Securex for many years is Walter Rautenbach of neaMetrics. He said, “Securex always creates the ideal platform for us to connect and our team welcomed current and new clients, partners and friends onto our stand.”

Even the international clients were impressed with the 2016 event. “What can I say but fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition and the various elements such as the Business Matchmaking service. The interface with the stand erectors, the name badge and barcode scanners, and the general organisation were beyond the norm. We hosted a number of visitors from SMEs through to large players from both the private and public sectors. We were impressed with the number of African visitors and this creates a great opportunity for us to expand into these areas,” noted Thomas Marshall of Econz Wireless.

More to come

How would you like to rapidly increase your database of customers and personally interact with thousands of industry professionals looking for what you are offering? All it takes is three days of work at Securex 2017.

Specialised Exhibitions is expanding its marketing programme for the 2017 exhibition to attract even more quality visitors to Gallagher Estate in 2017. Your own strategic marketing campaign will ensure maximised brand penetration for your company, resulting in improved market recognition and sales.

“Bookings for stand space at next year’s Securex, being held once again at Gallagher Convention Centre from 30 May to 1 June, are brisk so we encourage security and fire technology and service providers to ensure they don’t miss the bus,” said Joshua Low, Securex event director at Specialised Exhibitions. “Sales for the 2017 show are going extremely well and 50% of the 2016 exhibitors have already re-booked their stands for the 2017 show, less than two months after this year’s exhibition.”
