Elvey International's ongoing commitment

February 2002 News & Events

Commitment is easy to talk about but it is the proof that stands the test of time. This is the belief of the entire Elvey International team.

According to the company, commitment involves three main areas in its business. Firstly, service and reliability of the product, secondly, service by Elvey International to the customer, and lastly, a client's commitment to using products that work. Says Andrew Stead, Managing Director of Elvey International: "Our commitment to the industry is unquestionable. We are determined to offer our customers the best service, the best product, at a fair price."

Securex 2002

DSC Security products exclusively distributed by Elvey International will once again be a predominant force at the company's stand at Securex 2002, and will feature the 'Power' range of control panels, namely the Power 8, Power 832 and Power 864. The new Power 8 panel allows wireless expansion to 32 zones, hardwire expansion using the new two-wire analog addressable detectors from DSC. A unique feature is the TCP/IP communication add-on device that allows all alarm and event communications, as well as up/downloading of the control to be performed over a LAN or WAN.

During a recent study by a large installation company in South Africa it was determined that the return rate of faulty DSC control panels was below 0,5%. The measurement was over a period of six months, a portion of which was during peak lightning season. The measured amount of installed control panels was in excess of 18 000 units installed in all types of conditions. The popular DSC range of PIRs will also be on show, from the standard Bravo 2 or Encore EC301D to true pet immunity detectors that allow false alarm prevention, while ensuring security under a wide range of real life conditions. A mature product, which continues to totally dominate the market segment, is the Sur-Gard MLR2 digital multiline telephone receiver. The receiver has the ability to receive all the old, new and advanced formats including SIA format.

Infrared technology

Further, Optex, a world leader in infrared technology and superior passive infrared detection, will have various detectors on display including a full range of outdoor infrared detectors. For example, the display will feature the VX40 outdoor detector with an optional voice warning for intruders. All the AX infrared active beams from Optex have a high level of lightning resistance, which is designed specifically for the South African market. All Optex products have a full five-year warranty. The lightning warranty is included on the AX Series outdoor beams.

Caddx, the American manufacturer of security control panels, and the United States' largest exporter of control panels, will also be displaying its NetworX Series. The series boasts feature rich and reliable 4 to 192 zone control panels. The smallest of the series is the NX4, which is expandable from four to eight and allows a host of modules to be added to enhance the most basic of installations. The new NX8E installed in all the South African Justice Department buildings is now the flagship of the NetworX stable. This state of the art control panel allows for 192 zones in any configuration of wired or wireless, incorporating all types of detectors from standard magnetic contacts to wirefree breakglass and smoke detectors. The NX8E has not only been the choice of the Justice Department but also of the President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki.

In addition to the above companies, RDC, specialist in alarm radio transmitters will once again be displayed on the Elvey International stand. Elvey International has been successfully distributing RDC long distance radio transmitters for over two years. RDC is considered a 'stalwart' in the long-range radio business.

"Elvey International, Southern Africa's leading distributor of quality electronic security products takes this opportunity to invite you to visit our Securex stand to share with us our commitment to the security industry," explains MD Andrew Stead. "You will experience a host of innovative, reliable and user-friendly security control panels, as well as indoor and outdoor intruder detectors," he concludes.
