Unique digital management solution

September 2001 News & Events

It was back in 1998, with the advent of commercially viable digital video recording systems that the concept of Digital Management Technology's DMP (digital management platform) was born. Years of research, development and trial and error have gone into what is fast becoming a leading market force in the integrated management of surveillance, security and access control systems for industry. DMP is a fourth generation digital product that integrates, maintains and provides a single platform of control for all aspects of security and management.

The system has already been implemented at a host of well-known companies including Genfood Group International, one of the largest wheat and maize processing groups in southern Africa.

Genfood's Schalk Vorster explains: "The DMP has already been implemented in various forms at five of our bakeries and mills and has brought about huge cost savings in increased productivity, improved security and surveillance and efficient access/time and attendance control."

Unique solution

A typical site that demonstrates the abilities of DMT and the application of the DMP is Genfood's Unimill in Kuit Street, Waltloo. Rated as one of the most advanced milling operations in Africa this site is managed by application of these components:

* Digital CCTV recording platform incorporating high-speed domes that are able to magnify an image up to 220 x its original size - exact definition of objects at distances in excess of 450 m.

* Unique time and attendance systems that manage all aspects of human resource planning, site/shift scheduling, vehicle management, etc.

* Proximity card-based access control with features such as visitors/temporary workers management, anti-pass back, etc.

Currently under development for Unimill is a number recognition system to enable the control of road tankers collecting or delivering product. This system would automate the goods collection process to the extent that a vehicle would be identified at arrival, matched up to its electronically dispatched order, processed through weighbridge, dispatch, back to weighbridge and allowed to leave, without any human intervention, and having its payment already processed at the time of exit.

CCTV recording system

DMT also recently launched another unique initiative whereby the Vigilant realtime digital CCTV recording system has been uniquely adapted to suit the highly critical Casino environment. To assist the company in this project, DMT has employed some of the best managers and casino consultants in the industry and hope to be able to provide this product in the third quarter of 2001.

Other unique products and products available from DMT include:

* Biometric integration - Products in this range include facial, fingerprint, voice and lip movement biometrics in access control, surveillance and T&A systems.

* Time and attendance systems - Integrated human resource management, integrated payroll interfaces, shifts, rosters, schedules, sirens, etc.

* Access control systems - Anti-pass-back, temporary and visitors control, facial database, supports HID, Wiegand, barcode, magstripe, contactless smartcard and Dallas button.

* High-speed digital recording systems - Recording and viewing at 25 frames/s on unlimited cameras and with inexhaustible storage - entry-level systems recording at 25 frames/s per unit

Specialised products and digital CCTV products include:

* Sherlock - Intelligent debriefing tool whereby the user marks a specific object and the system relays all video of activity in that area.

* Video motion detection - Intelligent motion detection or alarming monitor that is used to activate response procedures.

* Secure vault - A secure area of the recording drives for data that needs to be protected - events, alarms, etc.

* Remote management of all events - surveillance, security, access control, alarming, etc.

* Remote management of all diagnostics - systems run constant diagnostics on all hardware, security, access control, alarms, etc.

DMT's understanding of business, process and systems control, together with its ability to adapt technology to a client's needs make the company well suited for those that wish to venture into the digital management arena.
