Super high-resolution cameras

August 2001 Surveillance

With four innovations developed by Sanyo, the VCC-4592P/VCC4594P are 1/3"-sized 1-CCD cameras achieving horizontal resolution of 520 TV lines. This high resolution opens a new era for all security systems.

Improved picture quality

The new DSP circuitry further improves picture quality and gives a clear view of off-centre objects.

Intelligent backlight compensation

The screen is divided into 64 small areas in which luminous intensity is measured separately to determine the lighting conditions of all objects within the frame. This new method provides a clear view of off-centre and moving objects that was not possible with conventional backlight compensation.

The new DSP (digital signal processing) circuitry comes with the latest algorithm to reproduce natural colours. At the same time, digital processing of the video signal reduces colour smudges and produces sharp, crisp pictures.

High performance under minimal illumination

Utilisation of an enhanced high-sensitivity CCD sensor (an improvement of 7 dB) enables superior surveillance capabilities under conditions of minimal illumination. Added to this are anti-smear characteristics that have been cut by 20 dB to drastically reduce smear effects such as those caused by headlights during shooting at night to augment the effectiveness of night-time image production.

Day and night use

As the camera senses the amount of light in the viewing area, it automatically turns the IR cut filter on and off as required. As more precise colour reproduction is essential in the colour operation mode, the filter is turned on.

In the B/W mode, clear, bright images are produced by switching the filter off and increasing light sensitivity. The camera's sensitivity to exposed light allows it to automatically switch from colour to B/W mode. The user is also able to easily switch modes as required for specific applications.

Mode switching can instantly be accomplished using the two push locking switches which provide manual selection over mode selection and auto operation. Full control is also available for setting the brightness range from 1-3 or 3-9 lux as the switchover point for high (colour) to low (B/W) mode.

Built-in electronic shutter

A high-speed electronic shutter that is internally switchable for eight modes using a DIP switch allows adjustment increments between 1/50th to 1/10 000th of a second.

Internal and external synchronisation capability

As well as its internal sync system, the VCC-4592P is equipped with a BNC connector that accepts an external composite video signal input. The VCC-4594P uses a line lock system in addition to these.

Other features include:

* Built-in electronic iris for indoor use.

* Usable with DC and video auto iris lenses.

* CS type lens mount.

* Quick operation and low power consumption.

Effectively engineering all the capabilities of two CCD cameras into one, the PAL system VCC-4592P/4594P are ideal 'all-in-one' cost-effective solutions for all surveillance needs.
