Camsecure partners with Dell to provide a full IT surveillance offering

1 March 2013 Surveillance

After undergoing a major restructuring process last year to streamline and optimise its operational efficiency, Camsecure is currently concentrating on the enhancement of its service and product offering to clients.

The company’s recent appointment as a Dell partner strongly emphasises the ongoing customer-centric direction of the company. “IT convergence with our existing offering is a key focal point. One of the biggest stumbling blocks in the security industry is the market gap that exists between IT and surveillance. This under-capacitated area requires very niche, specialised skills to successfully marry the two modalities for maximum customer satisfaction,” said Camsecure managing director, Francois Malan.

“Camsecure has, from the outset, aligned itself with suppliers that are recognised for their superior product offerings. We have grown our operations, over the past 10 years, alongside those of both Milestone and Axis. We have helped to pioneer the acceptance of open platforms and IP cameras in Africa through our partnership with these two premium brands. By partnering with Dell, another international market authority, we are determined to bridge the IT/security gap,” added Malan.

“Adding further impetus to our decision to enhance our portfolio was the existing synergistic relationship between Milestone and Dell. It is advantageous to all stakeholders that the commonality between the two companies leads to further value added benefits for our client base,” continued Malan.

Malan pointed out a number of services that form the backbone and differentiator for Camsecure and Dell:

* Camsecure is a strong believer in providing open platform systems, Dell network switches, servers and storage are key components in any surveillance system. “The return on investment in open platform systems is far greater than the closed system platform over time,” said Malan.

* Dell already has huge market penetration within government, large corporates and mining. Typically these IT departments do not want third-party servers or IT equipment onsite that they cannot maintain.

* Dell has many solutions that are not always publicly known, but which are able to provide added value to the business environment.

* Dell Services can come to site and undertake the installation of Dell equipment.</i> This is a great reduction on in-house resources and provides customers with added value and a high degree of quality control.

* Dell warranties and service are exemplary. “By investing in a Dell warranty package one receives benefits that far outweigh its cost,” added Malan.

* One contact number for all Dell support.

* Dell Services can also assist in design and project management of large implementations.

* Dell Open Management Suite has a call home feature that can notify Dell of any potential faults on the related equipment. This a very powerful feature when one considers many surveillance sites do not have 24/7 IT support.

“We have mentioned IT convergence is a major trend in the security industry, but we also see system convergence as a future trend and at its most basic we see more clients requesting the centralisation of alarms and events and a growing need for data centralisation and business intelligence. Milestone is a key enabler of third party integration, the key trend being that clients may in the future require additional features from their system that were not originally specified,” Malan continued..

“Clients need to make an investment in ensuring that their capital outlay in infrastructure or hardware will be a worthwhile one. It is critical to check your maintenance and warranty contracts to ascertain upfront what they cover and what they omit,” said Malan.

Dell has a department that has focused on the security sector over the past few years, specifically on higher government levels. Camsecure will exploit this excellence and best of breed service to benefit our customers,” added Malan.

“Other companies may now be echoing our IP and open platform philosophy but Camsecure will continue pioneering to improve customer experience and uplift the professionalism of the security industry,” Malan concluded.
