Integrated logistics

Access & Identity Management Handbook 2012 Access Control & Identity Management, Perimeter Security, Alarms & Intruder Detection

French logistics management company selects integrated security approach.

Gamba & Rota is a logistics management company established in l’ Aube, located to the east of Paris, France. Since 1947, the company continuously seeks new ways to better meet its customers’ growing technical and commercial needs. The company’s team, counting over 130 employees, operates in the logistics, human resources, product offering and traceability of customers’ orders and reporting.

Gamba & Rota mainly operates on its domestic market, realising just over 75% of its revenues in France, but also accommodates international needs which currently accounts for 11% of its business.

As Gamba & Rota grew over the years, its sites expanded and so did its local security and life safety systems. After several years this approach resulted into an unstructured overall security solution which was at times challenging to maintain and inefficient to operate.

Being an innovating company, Gamba & Rota decided to implement a new and improved up-to-date security solution that would cover access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance. The main objective of this new solution was to link all security applications to an integrated security management package which could be easily expanded towards the future.

After meeting with UTC Fire & Security’s experts and Perin Securite, a local partner of UTC Fire & Security, Gamba & Rota specified UTC Fire & Security’s solution and the installation could commence.

UTC’s solution

The ATS Master platform provides Gamba & Rota with coverage for intrusion detection and access control linked to biometric fingerprint readers. UTC Fire & Security’s TruVision video surveillance range offers a flexible solution to all of Gamba & Rota’s video surveillance needs. At the central control room, all systems are integrated using the Facility Commander Wnx security management software package.

This new integrated hardware and software platform offers an efficient and cost-effective way of managing security. The flexibility of the overall system means that Gamba & Rota can link perimeter Intelliflex detection to camera footage and access control activities. To increase the interconnectivity of the systems a network of fibre cable is in place that ensures the data is transferred with high speeds and virtually uninterrupted.

Having this system in place Gamba Rota can count on this state-of-the-art system when it comes to its current security activities and future expansion.
