Company profile: Secequip

October 2009 News & Events

“It is amazing how time flies,” says John Rogers, MD of Secequip Supplies. It is now eight months since Texecom UK sold its South African operation to John Rogers and Brian Anderson. Secequip Supplies has had a busy first eight months of 2009 with many exciting changes to the traditional Texecom South African operation.

Secequip Supplies has been restructured to ensure continued and improved focus on customer service and delivery of high quality product at affordable prices across the entire spectrum of security requirements designed, developed and tested specifically for the South African security industry.

Secequip Supplies recently launched a Texecom outdoor detector which is IP65 rated, boasts two mirror detection devices and has proven to have great pet immunity with exceptional human detection. The Texecom Prestige TD Outdoor Detector is the result of four years of research and development.

Testing in KZN, South Africa has ensured it withstands the ultimate test for all round performance in high ambient temperatures with the combination of high humidity (one of the most difficult obstacles to overcome with passive infrared detectors). The past eight months have seen a number of significant control panel feature changes from the Texecom 412 control panel through to the Texecom 640 control panel (640 zones). The Texecom cloak wise detector has had an upgrade improving the catch performance of an industry leading detector for use in areas of high risk where cloaking of intruders has become a real threat to an entire industry.

Impro

Secequip Supplies has also announced it is a national distributor of the Impro range of access control equipment. Impro, established 22 years ago, manufactures everything from start to finish – from research and design through to production. Nothing is outsourced and everything is monitored and controlled through completion. Impro employs more than 160 full time employees at its high-tech manufacturing facility in KZN. The company exports to over 60 countries worldwide and has gained the following accreditations, ROHS, ISO 9001:2008, CE, FCC and UL294.

Secequip Supplies has employed George Psoulis to ensure that, through the Secequip branch network, Impro products will be available. Staff and current Secequip valued customers will be trained and supported at all levels. George comes with a wealth of experience regarding the Impro product range from system design configuration to setup.

Secequip Supplies has also joined forces with VCI, a leading supplier of CCTV equipment currently based in KZN. Secequip has acquired a 50% stake in this successful business headed up by Mike Crichton, and we will be distributing the VCI brand of CCTV equipment through the current Secequip branch network.

VCI

After what began as a specialist CCTV distributor in late 2003 and through several changes in face, V-Cam International (VCI) was registered in May of 2005. Based in Durban, the company enjoyed remarkable year-on-year growth providing a quality product at a hard-to-beat price.

With support, back-up and off-the-shelf stock availability this growth continued in the ensuing years. VCI has built its success on the Philips PNX digital video recorder which provides image quality at a very affordable price. It stands ahead of the crowd with its simple operation yet excellent networkability in both local and wide-area environments. The Impro, VCI and current AVerMedia CCTV range will make up a new systems division known as Techsec which will be headed up by Mike Crichton.

Secequip Supplies will continue serving the industry with a commitment to service excellence and quality products at competitive pricing.
