June 2008 News

I am not sure if I was impressed or concerned when I read that ahead of the summer Olympics to be held in Beijing from 8 to 24 August, passengers riding the Beijing subway and major bus routes will have to undergo strict security checks starting from the end of June.

Security checkpoints have been set up at all subway lines and major bus stations and high-traffic subway and bus stations will be equipped with police dog units and handheld metal detectors at each of these checkpoints.

In the city of Beijing, the nationwide security campaign has included increased security checks at hotels, entertainment areas and homes that are being rented out for the event.

Nice for the participants and spectators to know security is being stepped up, but yet another sad sign of the times...

Back on home ground, Securex 2008 opens its doors on 25 June and looks set to be another successful show. Read about some of the highlights and launches taking place.

Look out for the Hi-Tech team at our stand in hall 2, A50-52. We look forward to seeing you there. Here is wishing all the exhibitors a great show.
