The secure touch

May 2008 Security Services & Risk Management

Gremick Security was founded in 1994 by Kevin Derrick who had a long-term vision of supplying the industry with an integrated security service.

Derrick, the managing director of Gremick Integrated Security Specialists, states that, "As the business grew, it was acquired in 1998 by the Servest Group and this acquisition further embraced Gremick's mission to provide a more enhanced security service with Gremick being the first security company to be listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

In September 2002 the shareholders of Servest Holdings unanimously approved a management buy out and the subsequent de-listing of Servest from the JSE Securities Exchange and, with this transaction, private equity shareholders were obtained.

The introduction of equity shareholders brought about a strong empowerment portfolio and empowerment initiatives and therefore, with Gremick's unique approach to the security business and its administration, Gremick managed to secure large security contracts within the gaming and leisure industry, marine, retail, industrial and commercial fields of the market.

The management team of Gremick has been involved in the business for the past 14 years and through their hard work and dedication, the company has managed to ensure the growth of the business and the retention of its clients. By providing the team on the ground with effective management tools, they are able to ensure an effective and sound service to Gremick's most valuable asset - the client.

The newly acquired off-site monitoring system that Gremick recently implemented will take Gremicks' security services to another level due to it being realtime monitoring as and when it happens.

Derrick and his team have established operational branches in centres around the country with major representation in Cape Town, Durban, Richards Bay, Pretoria and greater Johannesburg.

Gremick is a dedicated company that provides safe, reliable and efficient means of protecting people and property and one of the major foundations on which it has built its reputation is the commitment to service excellence.
