Gray sponsors local cricket talent

March/April 2000 News & Events

Gray Security Services has made a difference once again with a R10 000 donation to the aspiring players of the Gauteng Youth Cricket Programme. The money will be used to purchase equipment for previously disadvantaged players.

The development programme consists of 14 main areas which will benefit from the donation. These include Soweto, Kagiso, Alexandra, Lenasia, Lenasia South, Zakariya Park, Eldorado Park, Ennerdale, Eden Park, Fordsburg, Azaadville, Toekomsrus, Bosmont and Sharpeville.

Administrator of Youth Cricket in Gauteng, Mr Sheldon Mayet, accepted the cheque from the MD of Gray Security Services (Central), Mr Dolf Scheepers, at the Alexandra Oval.

"Through this donation we hope to teach the youth respect, good sportsmanship, and teamwork. Gray is pleased to contribute to the development of these aspiring developmental cricketers in the Gauteng area," said Scheepers.

Gray Security Services' social responsibility programme involves promoting activities and role models that will inspire the youth to pursue activities that could be morally uplifting as well as becoming involved in potential sporting career opportunities.

"Our contribution to the Gauteng Youth Cricket Programme is the continuation of our support in sports development for previously disadvantaged South African youth. Gray sponsored two development players, Gcobani (Bobs) Bobo and Oginga (Gings) Siwundla in the Golden Lions U-21 rugby team last year," said Scheepers.
