May 2007 News & Events

Can you believe how this year has flown? Here we are with the May issue already, winter is putting in an appearance and Securex is just around the corner!

This issue of Hi-Tech Security Solutions takes an in-depth look at issues close to all of our hearts - security of homes. From neighbourhood 'block watch' initiatives to high-tech all-encompassing home security solutions, almost every residence has some sort of protection these days.

It is a fact of life around the world - crime happens, and it affects us all. On 17 April the home of Gauteng's health MEC, Brian Hlongwa, was robbed and on 30 March there was a shooting at the Emmarentia home of Gauteng safety MEC Firoz Cachalia - it would seem nobody is immune.

But we cannot let crime take over and stop us from leading normal lives, we simply have to be aware of what is going on around us and do what we can to avoid getting into potentially dangerous situations. Read what companies and experts involved in residential security have to say about the situation and also the various solutions and options available to help you protect your home and your family. And on we have some security tips for homeowners.

To those of you attending Ifsec, I wish you a safe and productive trip and we all look forward to seeing the latest products and solutions at Securex in June.

Enjoy the read, I am sure you will all find the articles informative and helpful - that is our aim! And if there is any topic you feel we should be covering, drop me a mail and we will certainly take your suggestions into consideration.

Until next month, stay warm and be safe!

Lynne Larsen
