Coin Technology aims to be first choice integrated security solution company

June 2000 News & Events

Coin Technology, a division of the Coin Security Group headed by Gary van Staden has some ambitious plans for the future. Van Staden elaborates on some of the principles to which the company adheres in servicing its customers.

"Coin Technology is continually striving to offer its clients solutions to their security problems in conjunction with the Coin Security Group," he says.

"In the increasingly turbulent and difficult financial situations many companies find themselves, it has become all the more important to protect their various assets. At Coin Technology we consult with our clients to achieve an integrated solution to their security requirements within their financial constraints by selecting strategic suppliers that offer superior, high performance products at competitive prices," he adds.

Integrated security solution

Says Van Staden, "Coin Technology aims to be the first choice integrated security solution company in South Africa and Africa by providing complete solutions for access control, CCTV and fire detection and suppression systems."

"Our vision is to have all our existing clients linked to Digital Video surveillance systems that use software with purpose built hardware to offer superior performance and features over conventional analog recording systems which integrate with all traditional security platforms."

According to Van Staden, the strategic partners nominated by Coin Technology for the supply of its Digital Video surveillance systems are the leaders in the software technology for such systems in South Africa.

"Coin Technology has installed software based surveillance base stations at its national bases which enable its existing monitoring centres to access the CCTV surveillance systems of its clients on an event driven alarm basis," he adds.

One of the features of the system is that it can be accessed through any network, LAN, WAN, PSTN, ISDN or GSM. It also allows multiple viewers access to all camera's simultaneously, simply using 'client' software on their desktop or laptop computers.

The software also allows for the integration of access control systems into the surveillance system which will allow a client to monitor a person's movements through their premises via either hand-held badges and/or asset tracking tags.

Accent on training

Coin Technology also offers training of all security personnel on the operation of all security surveillance equipment at its Midrand training centre which is run by highly trained personnel who have experience in the field. Says Van Staden, "These training models are based on the new skills act profile and will enhance security persons employability in the new South Africa."

Concludes Van Staden, "Coin Technology also offers solutions to fire detection and fire suppression systems where the clients requirements are of a specialised nature such as underground protection on the mines, flammable bulk storage tanks, computer rooms and any application which requires specialised engineering."
