November 2006 News & Events

As we head towards the end of the year, we are once again hearing of increasing numbers of cash-in-transit heists taking place. And in September it was revealed that CIT heists were the fastest-rising crime in the country, when the police announced its annual crime statistics. While bank robberies rose 1,7% - from 58 incidents to 59 - in the 2005/06 financial year, cash-in-transit heists went up 74,1% - from 220 to 383. That is a lot of money and many lives at risk!

Apt, then, that our feature this month is on security in the financial sector, click on 'Dealing in trust - how IT is enhancing bank security' and read what can be done to prevent such crimes. News24 also provides an interesting read on the subject at: http://www.news24.com/News24/South_Africa/News/0,,2-7-1442_2005297,00.html

With this month's issue of Hi-Tech Security Solutions, you will also find the Access Control Handbook 2006/7, which in the past was bound together with the monthly magazine. This year, however, it is a standalone publication, which will make it easier to keep as a reference guide to your access control needs.

We are sure you will find both publications useful and informative - enjoy!

Till next month,

Lynne
